California’s budget season is getting into gear! This week the Senate Budget committee will be discussing the Updated CDCR Blueprint — a report that paints a grim picture of increased imprisonment and expanded correctional control for decades to come.
At tomorrow’s hearing, the CDCR will try to persuade the senators to extend their contracts with out-of-state and in-state contract prisons, and to repair the decrepit prison in Norco instead of closing it down.
We will be in Sacramento demanding a lasting solution at tomorrow’s hearing:
Thursday, March 3, 9:30 am
State Capitol – Room 113
Rather than waste billions of dollars cementing our reliance on prisons, we need our elected officials to invest in our future — a future that involves a supportive and resourced California for all.
